Floating Offshore
Wind ShotTMSummit

The Future of Offshore Wind

Join us as the Departments of Energy, Interior, Commerce, and Transportation bring together states, tribes, and offshore wind stakeholders to discuss progress to-date in our second Shot summit. This event will cast a spotlight on the Floating Offshore Wind ShotTM initiative, an all-of-government effort to promote a clean energy future by driving US leadership in floating offshore wind design, deployment, and manufacturing.

This year's Floating Offshore Wind Shot Summit will focus on accomplishments since the launch of the Shot and discussion of near-term priorities for future work. This Summit will bring together federal, tribal, and state leaders, policymakers, experts, community leaders, and innovators to explore issues central to advancing the development of this emerging and critical technology.

Diving Deep Into Floating Offshore Wind

Diving Deep

About two-thirds of U.S. offshore wind energy potential exists over waters too deep for today's fixed-bottom wind turbine foundations secured directly to the sea floor, and instead require floating platforms. These rotating structures will be among the largest humankind has ever constructed. Achieving the Floating Offshore Wind ShotTM goals will require an all-out effort to develop a robust domestic supply chain, reduce technology costs, and plan and build out needed transmission.
